We have designed logos that will appear alongside all the toys sold on our site.
Each logo scores the toy so you can see at a glance exactly what the toy is, be it ethical or environmentally friendly.
Below you'll find what each of the logos are and below that the definition of each logo.

Educational
Educational toys are designed to help your child learn and grow through play. All our educational toys require thought and action on your child's part. They are not plastic and they are not computerised. The educational toys you find on our site are quite traditional and will challenge the child who plays with it.
When you buy an educational toy you can be safe in the knowledge that your child will be challenged and tested while playing and having fun regardless of age

Green Logo
This denotes environmentally friendly wooden toys. Toys that have been made with wood from either sustainable forests or from exhausted rubberwood plantations.
Green toys do not harm the environment as the wood they're made from does not come from clearcut forests or rainforests. When discarded because they are made of wood they are also biodegradable.
Where our manufacturers cut down trees to make these toys they do not clearcut and thus do not affect biodiversity of the forestation. They always plant more trees than they cut down.
When you buy an eco friendly wooden toy you can be assured that you are buying a wooden toy that has not harmed the environment your children will inherit.

Fair Trade
Fair trade toys are toys which are manufactured by companies who are members of BAFTS. The British Association for Fair Trade Shops (BAFTS) is an association of retailers who, although independent, unite in a core purpose which is to bring about fundamental changes in the status of working producers through Fair Trade retailing and campaigning
Fair Trade in Europe started as a grassroots movement about 40 years ago. The aim was to alleviate poverty in the 'Global South' - Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean - by building direct, sustainable relationships with disadvantaged producers and providing fair access to markets in the developed 'North'. The aims are the same now, but Fair Trade has developed into a powerful force, symbolised by a high level of European co-operation.
Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, which seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers - especially in the South.
Fair Trade organisations (backed by consumers) are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practices of conventional international trade.
All involved in Fair Trade accept that it has to include: paying fair prices to producers which reflect the true cost of production, supporting producer organisations in their social and environmental projects, promoting gender equality in pay and working conditions, advising on product development to increase access to markets, committing to long term relationships to provide stability and security and campaigning to highlight the unequal system of world trade which places profit above human rights and threatens our environment.

Ethical
These toys are manufactured in factories where no children are employed and the employees work a fair working week for a fair wage. The factories are strictly audited and checked to ensure these practices are adhered to. The companies have not yet attained Fairtrade accreditation.
When you buy an ethical toy you can be safe in the knowledge that it has produced responsibly.
